NICU Clinics are designed for babies who were born prematurely and/or had medical problems before birth or during the newborn period. Clinics are designed to screen children of 6, 12, 18 and 30 months of age to monitor and chart their developmental progress and offer recommendations, resources, and referrals when wanted.
Babies are generally referred to NICU Clinics upon discharge from the hospital. However, if you have a child under the age of 12 months who was at least eight weeks premature, call CDC to see if a referral to the clinic is appropriate.
NICU Clinics are offered as a collaborative effort between CDC, Community Medical Center in Missoula and Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell and are comprised of the following disciplines:
- Neonatologist
- Registered Nurse
- Child Development Specialist
- Occupational or Physical Therapist
- Speech Therapist
- Audiologist (hearing screenings are scheduled separately from the clinic)
NICU Clinics are held at Community Medical Center in Missoula and Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell. They are held bi-monthly and last about 1.5 hours. They are provided at no cost to families.
