Developmental Checklist

Birth Through 3 Months:
Looks at parent's face
Follows noiseless objects with eyes
Startles to noise
While on tummy, holds head up

3 Through 6 Months:
Smiles
Reaches for toys
Grasps toys
When lifted, head does not wobble
Rolls over

6 Through 9 Months:
Makes sounds
Passes toys from one hand to the other
Feeds self cracker
Picks up tiny objects with whole hand
Sits without support
Pulls to stand against furniture

9 Through 12 Months:
Plays Pat-A-Cake
Bangs small toys together
Says Dada and Mama with meaning
Gets into sitting position alone
Walks holding on to furniture
Crawls on hands and knees

12 Through 18 Months:
Drinks from a cup without help
Picks up small objects w/thumb & index finger
Has three words other than "mama" & "dada"
Walks well
Stoops to get toy while standing alone

18 Through 24 Months:
Helps with simple household tasks
Removes some clothes
Scribbles
Stacks two to four blocks
Puts two words together
Points to one body part (eye, ear, nose, mouth)
Throws ball overhand
Walks up stairs with help

2 Through 3 Years:
Puts on own clothes
Washes & dries own hands
Stacks 6-8 blocks
Uses plurals (e.g., toys, blocks)
Follows simple directions
Jumps in place
Peddles trike
Stands on one foot for one second

3 Through 4 Years:
Uses four-word sentences
Asks more questions, knows some of the answers
Can tell a story
Hops on one foot
Puts on shoes, with help
Dresses without help

4 Through 5 Years:
Can sing simple songs
Counts to five out loud
Spends time looking at books
Dresses & undresses without help
Understands almost everything you say
Can draw a square
Washes own face and hands
Plays simple games and follows rules

5 Through 6 Years:
Knows difference between right & left
Can name penny, nickel, and dime
Counts to ten
Blows own nose
Can bathe himself without help
Can print first name
